KiDiMu Executive Director
Since our founding 20 years ago, KiDiMu has been a vital asset to the children of Bainbridge Island, Kitsap County, and beyond—and we’re looking for our next Executive Director to advance our mission of play-based learning. You will lead the successful management of the non-profit organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. You will also ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, program evaluation, consistent quality of financial practices and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems.
You will be responsible for engaging, inspiring, and energizing KiDiMu staff, volunteers, board members, committees, alumni, partnering organizations, donors, and customers. This is a full-time hybrid position with flexible work hours, and you will report to the KiDiMu Board of Directors. Some evening and weekend work will be required for special events, exhibitions, and community outreach. You will work on-site at the museum (at least three days per week), but may also need to travel occasionally for meetings, conferences, and local or regional events.
Job Duties
- Work with the Board of Directors and staff in developing a strategy to guide and inspire the museum now and in the future
- Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget, monitor ongoing cash flow, and approve all expenditures within the authority delegated by the board.
- Serve on board finance, executive, development, governance, and marketing committees
- Identify, assess, and inform the board of internal and external issues that affect the museum
- Be a professional advisor to the board on all aspects of KiDiMu activities
- Act, with the board president, as the primary spokesperson for the organization
- Lead a team of four subordinate directors and several museum staff
- Be a community leader in the field of early learning to advocate for children and the museum
- Represent KiDiMu at community activities, events, and meetings to enhance our community profile
- Encourage innovative approaches to programming that appeal to multiple audiences, including diverse demographics and age groups
- Ensure the museum’s offerings remain relevant and engaging, using audience feedback, research, and trends in the museum and cultural sector
- Partner with the Development Director on fundraising strategy and donor management.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, health and safety regulations, and internal policies.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of current trends in museums and cultural institutions, including digital engagement, accessibility, and sustainability.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in museum studies, nonprofit management, business, or a related field preferred.
- Four or more years of experience in a museum, nonprofit, or cultural organization, with a track record in management, fundraising, and strategic planning.
- Experience working with boards, donors, and diverse stakeholders.
- An understanding of museum practices, including collections management, exhibit design, and educational programming.
- Experience supporting fundraising projects, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and sponsorships.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $110,000 per year. This role is an exempt FTE full-time position, and may be eligible for bonuses and other benefits or compensation.

KiDiMu Summer Camp Instructors
Inspire creativity and curiosity this summer at KiDiMu!
KiDiMu camps provide children ages 3 to 6 with a developmentally appropriate, STEAM-focused camp experience rooted in play, exploration, and imagination. We’re looking for a dependable, flexible, and creative instructor to join our ten-week summer camp team.
Camp runs June 23 through August 28, and this role offers the opportunity to help young learners grow while having fun in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Job Duties
- Teach camp classes – 4 instructional hours per day (with 30 minutes before and after for prep and clean up), Monday through Thursday
- Create and manage a developmentally appropriate camp environment ensuring for the physical and social well-being of campers and staff at all times
- Implement KiDiMu curriculum and lesson plans for assigned campers
- Supervise teaching assistant(s) and volunteers when applicable
- Attend all assigned camp sessions, orientation, and staff meetings as scheduled
Qualifications
- All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the museum’s mission, values, and philosophy
- Experience teaching children aged 3-6, especially in a mixed-age environment
- Experience in group management, pedagogical tools, and subject matter
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain by June l6th, 2025
Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience in child development, recreation, or early childhood education
Pursing or having a degree in early childhood or elementary education desired
Compensation
This is a seasonal part-time position, scheduled for 20 hours per week, Monday through Thursday. Compensation range: $18.50–$24.00 per hour, depending on experience.

KiDiMu Preschool Assistant Teacher
KiDiMu is seeking a motivated, compassionate professional who is passionate about early childhood education to join our preschool team as a Preschool Assistant Teacher. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a play-based learning environment that supports curiosity, creativity, and inclusion.
In this role, you’ll work closely with the Lead Teacher to support engaging activities and learning exercises while helping maintain a positive, safe, and welcoming atmosphere for all children. You may lead small group activities, assist in supervising both indoor and outdoor free play, and help foster social-emotional growth in each child.
Additional responsibilities include helping track student behavior and progress, supporting communication with families, and contributing to a nurturing environment where every child feels seen, supported, and encouraged to thrive.

- First Aid and CPR certification

Compensation
This is a part-time position for the 2025–2026 school year, scheduled for 22.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Compensation range: $18.50–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
