Since our founding 20 years ago, KiDiMu has been a vital asset to the children of Bainbridge Island, Kitsap County, and beyond—and we’re looking for our next Executive Director to advance our mission of play-based learning. You will lead the successful management of the non-profit organization according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors. Some evening and weekend work will be required for special events, exhibitions, and community outreach. You will work on-site at the museum (at least three days per week), but may also need to travel occasionally for meetings, conferences, and local or regional events.

Job Duties

  • Ensure the museum’s offerings remain relevant and engaging, using audience feedback, research, and trends in the museum and cultural sector
  • Partner with the Development Director on fundraising strategy and donor management.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, health and safety regulations, and internal policies.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current trends in museums and cultural institutions, including digital engagement, accessibility, and sustainability.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in museum studies, nonprofit management, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Four or more years of experience in a museum, nonprofit, or cultural organization, with a track record in management, fundraising, and strategic planning.
  • Experience working with boards, donors, and diverse stakeholders.
  • An understanding of museum practices, including collections management, exhibit design, and educational programming.
